Lapdogs and Nutella

Seamus, my lapdog

I have decided to ban Nutella from my cupboard – especially the really big jars that you can fit a really big spoon into. It’s all very well my Slimming World consultant saying that a teaspoon of nutella is only a few syns, but how about a heaped tablespoon – I mean dessert spoon obviously. I am not that much of a pig. Actually I am. So much for my plan to lose weight before Christmas – it is comfort food all the way around here.

And while we’re on the subject of comfort, I thought you might like to see a picture of Seamus making himself comfy on my lap. And yes he is heavy – 13 stone heavy. And the “tiny” dog curled up next to him is a Staffordshire bull terrier cross.

When people tell me they have a large dog I have this urge to say, “That’s not a large dog. This is a large dog.” Like Paul Hogan did with the knife on Crocodile Dundee!

Blimey – that is a large dog. (Unless you and your sofa are really, really small, of course.)

I buy Nutella for my husband, but unfortnately he doesn’t get to eat much of it. I swear it evaporates!

I think Seamus might be trying to tell you something – like, ‘get off my settee.’ As for Nutella; never buy it or I would be tempted to smear it over every plain biscuit in sight. I love chocolate and have a little bit every day so I don’t feel deprived. I tried cutting it out altogether, but it didn’t work. So little and often is my motto, and I still managed to get down to my target weight. A little bit of what you fancy…..and all that.

    How cute is that picture?

  4. Lydia Jones says:

Love the pic! That is one seriously large dog but he looks so comfy on your lap! Does he like Nutella, lol! x

  5. Della I think you should put the Nutella on a biscuit in the middle of the room and race Seamus for it.

  6. Are you sure that’s a dog and not a horse (the two are easily confused)?

  7. Teresa says:

What a gorgeous picture – you need a bigger lap.

I’ll look after your Nutella for you – I don’t like it. And what are you doing at Slimming World anyway, there’s nothing on you gal (well apart from Seamus!) xx

  8. kath says:

Try a cat – they are more comfortable.

  9. Seamus reminds me of my OH when he’s wearing his dark, hairy gown or should I say robe? He is so in favour at the moment, having urged me to pick up a basket when we were browsing Fortnum and Mason store on Saturday. Well, it is Christmas … but Nutella on digestive biscuits is definitely one of my weaknesses though I try not to buy trouble in a jar 🙂

seamus looks like he’s already got the Christmas spirit – Della I’ll e-mail a picture of tiddles my cat I found on a recent holiday !

Is that the lid off the nut Ella next to Seamus…wow…it is a big jar 😂👍
